US MAIL TRAFFIC REPORT NOVEMBER 10, 2025

AN OKAY WEEK TELLS A BIGGER STORY

There was very little drama with USPS service performance in the past week. We saw some recovery from election-volume delays in the prior week, which was expected and welcomed, but the bigger story is in the year-to-date numbers. Eleven months into the calendar year, the YTD figures for 2025 are just the tiniest bit better than the equivalent for 2024 in every category except for Marketing Mail flats, which weren’t far behind. This is important because since 2021 service performance has gotten worse every year. We’ve got a long way to go to get back to 2022 numbers, but at least in 2025, we’re not getting any worse.

Speaking of Marketing Mail flats, the Central Area again dragged down the average – that is where many of the Marketing Mail flats are produced.

Still, it is encouraging that right now it looks like 2024 may have been the nadir of service performance, and maybe we can look forward to improving service in the future.
