PERFORMANCE CONTINUES TO LAG. MARKETING MAIL FLATS STRUGGLING.
Overall performance looked similar to the prior week, even though the holiday gave service measurement a “bonus day.” First-Class delivery was close to YTD performance. Marketing Mail flats were particularly weak. Some facilities seem to be clogged. This is typical for this time of year as mail volume increases heading into the holidays.
Trouble spots continue to pop up with Marketing Mail flats. Louisville KY was taking more than ten days on average to deliver, with South Suburban IL, Mobile AL, Jackson MS, and Dayton OH not doing much better. Most of this mail is inducted close to delivery, in many cases, so when you see something taking more than ten days, that is mostly time sitting in a facility.
