FIRST-CLASS SERVICE LITTLE CHANGED, MARKETING MAIL SHOWS SOME SLOWNESS

First-Class letters showed a mild improvement over the preceding week, which is a low bar to be sure, with about 70% of First-Class letters delivered on time.  Nearly 9% were more than five days late.   55% of First-Class flats were delivered on time, with 8% more than five days late.

Marketing Mail, which is generally steady, showed small service declines, too.  For the first time since December, fewer than 90% of Marketing Mail flats were on time.  Problems seemed to be concentrated in Atlanta, and in parts of Alabama.  Marketing Mail letters remained stable.

Atlanta area mail continued to show small improvements, with average delivery time for a First-Class letter to an address in Atlanta reduced to 8.97 days, down from 11.08 days in the prior week.
